Best Field Service Management Software for Small Contractors (2026)

✓ Prices and features last checked on vendors' official sites: Oct 14, 2026

Field service management (FSM) software runs the day: it takes the request, puts the job on the schedule, sends the tech, turns the work into an invoice, and collects payment. For a small crew, the choice usually comes down to four names: Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz, and ServiceTitan. This roundup uses each vendor's own pricing page, not hands-on testing.

Quick picks: Jobber has the lowest published entry price. Housecall Pro includes the most users at its mid tier. Workiz builds a phone system into every plan. ServiceTitan is built for larger shops and is quote-only.

Jobber

Jobber's plans are Core, Connect, Grow, and Plus. Billed annually, they start at $29, $99, $149, and $399 a month (Plus includes 5 users). Extra users are $29/mo. Core covers online booking, quotes, invoices, online payments, a website builder, and reporting. Connect adds automated reminders, automatic payments, checklists, quote and invoice follow-ups, QuickBooks Online sync, and time and expense tracking. Grow adds optional line items, job costing, two-way SMS, and a custom automation builder.

Watch for: Monthly billing costs more than annual. Core is $49/mo with no commitment versus $29/mo billed annually.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro has three plans: Basic ($59/mo billed annually, $79 monthly), Essentials ($149/$189, 5 users), and MAX ($299/$329, 8 users, then $35 per extra user). Basic already includes online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments and consumer financing, a price book, job costing, and review management. Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, employee GPS tracking, commissions, and QuickBooks Online sync.

Watch for: Zapier and open API access are on MAX only.

Workiz

Workiz sells Standard, Pro, and Ultimate plans. Standard includes scheduling, invoices, jobs and estimates, online payments, client management, subcontractor management, QuickBooks integration, and 5 automations. Pro raises that to 10 automations and adds performance pay and custom reports. Ultimate allows 30 automations and adds service plans, inventory, flat rate, checklists, multi-day jobs, and open API access. Every plan comes with an integrated phone system with 2-way texting, call flows, and call masking. Workiz says annual billing saves "$400+" compared with monthly.

ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan uses per-technician pricing and doesn't publish rates. You get a price after a demo. Its pricing page highlights a dispatch board, call recording, marketing attribution, automated checklists, and reporting. For a shop deciding whether it's big enough for ServiceTitan, see ServiceTitan vs Housecall Pro.

How to choose

  1. Count how many people need a login, not just how many trucks you run. User pricing is where these plans split apart.
  2. Price the plan that has the features you'll actually use. Automated follow-ups, GPS, and QuickBooks sync are often a tier up from the entry plan.
  3. Use the free trial on real jobs. Send a real quote and a real invoice to yourself before you commit to annual billing.
